looking to come to PP in september, to relax and enjoy the bars seen, but am alittle worried if its safe by myself, normally i go to thailand, and there feel 100% safe and no problems finding company…wanna a hotel close to the action..around 50dollars a nite…
You should look into staying at the LUX hotel on Street 136. It is right in the center of one of the girly bar action centers, has nice rooms, and fits your budget. You can feel as safe in Phnom Penh as you can in Bangkok or Pattaya. Staying close to the action means you need not travel too far but Phnom Penh is small and it is not a probelm to get around if you decide to go further afield. Am coming in May for a birthday vacation. Will contact when I get closer to departure. How soon in advance should I make reservations and should I be worried about my safety as an American? Also how do they look at men of color?
There are lots of guesthosues in Phnom Penh. Most of which you’ll not find online. if you want a nice place, you can reserve anytime. A month or two in advance should be fine. As for men of colour, a friend of mine is coloured, and another is a dark skinned Indian. They both go out in the evenings, and, as far as they have told me, they are treated the same as any other foreigner. Anyone who is polite and has some money to spend is welcome in Phnom Penh’s establishments. For some of the girls, you may be the first coloured fellow they’ve ever met.
